Walks, Country Walks and Treks around Birmingham
Walking in the Birmingham area falls into three main categories however certain walks can overlap these categories so they are only really a vague description. Firstly there are the city centre walks that take you around interesting landmarks, points of historical interest and of course, all the best shopping locations. For these you can either join an organised tour or simply buy a guide book from almost any bookshop in the city.
The second category is the canal walks that link up a lot of Birmingham and the surrounding area. These are very popular as they travel through some picturesque scenery and can be planned to cover whatever distance you like. As with the city centre walks you can join an organised tour or simply follow a map to wherever you'd like to go
The third category is the walks in the various parks around the outskirts of Birmingham which offer woodland walks to all types of tourist. Within these parks however organised tours are not as common and it is left to the individual to explore the area at their leisure
